Care home Het Gastenhuis Kerkdriel

In Kerkdriel, a care home Het Gastenhuis has been realized near the village center. Het Gastenhuis is a small-scale care facility where care is provided to people with dementia. The new building consists of a two-layer building containing twenty care apartments. Two apartments are suitable for (married) couples who want to continue living together. In addition, a shared living room, a large kitchen, a club and a guest room have been realized. The care team of Het Gastenhuis is managed by a care couple. A house has been built for them in the building.

In the past, a primary school was located on the site in the middle of a residential area. The realization of a Het Gastenhuis at an infill location such as this one is fully in line with the housing needs of the target group. By living and staying in the middle of society, the residents remain an active part of society.

The building fits seamlessly into the environment. For example, it has the appearance of a residential house and the masonry architecture fits in with the surrounding buildings in the residential area. The detailed finish on the inside creates a homely feeling and prevents the atmosphere of a nursing home. A canopy has been installed over part of the facade, so that the residents can stay outside even during hot days.
