B+O Architecten completed a 22-apartment residential care complex, divided over two floors, on the edge of the village of Havelte. The assisted living homes are rented to Vanboeijen by stichting Woonconcept. The elongated building is a central structure in the neighbourhood. Thanks to its linear shape, the building is in contact with the rural environment on all sides.

This relatively large complex has been divided into multiple parts. The balustrades are characteristic on the street side. Every apartment has its own outdoor patio and the wooden balconies structure the rhythm of the building.

The opening up of the apartments is organised by a long corridor, which runs behind the volumes. This long interior street has a large series of floor-to-ceiling windows, which generate a generous amount of light along the route and also make it a pleasant space to stay. The window partition differs slightly on the two floors, giving the façade a playful effect.

The space behind the apartments is taken up by a series of wooden sheds and storage spaces. By making a ‘box’ of all the different volumes and finishing them with wooden boards, with which the façade has also been finished, an exciting outside world is created with square elements. This creates see-throughs and makes the garden a nice place to hang out.

Each resident has a sitting room/bedroom, kitchenette and private bathroom. There are also shared spaces, such as a living room, cooking facilities, storage space, washing, drying, ironing, a large adapted bathroom and a communal garden. In addition, the night care has a room in the building. In the building, Vanboeijen offers 24-hour support.
