In Deurne, a care home Het Gastenhuis has been realized on the location of the former craft school. Het Gastenhuis is a small-scale care facility where care is provided to people with dementia. The characteristic building from the 1950s, which consists of two floors and a prominent roof, has been completely renovated and adapted to the new function. A new wing has also been added to realize the required program. A total of seventeen care apartments, a guest room, two apartments for double occupancy and a home for the care couple have been realized.

In addition, the residents have access to a shared living room and a club. These spaces are located in the old building. Due to the high ceilings of the original classrooms and the new all-glass extension, these spaces have been given a special appearance. The architecture of the attached wing is completely in line with the architectural style of the school building. This is mainly reflected in the distinguished pier structure and the rich detailing of the parapets under the window frames.
