In Roermond, a Gastenhuis is being built in the new district of Oolderverste. The Gastenhuis is a small-scale residential facility where care is provided to people with dementia. The new building consists of two floors with a roof, containing twenty care apartments. Two of these apartments are suitable for (married) couples who want to continue living together. In addition, a shared living room, a large kitchen and a social room will be realized. There is also a guest room available. The care team of Het Gasthuis is managed by a care couple. A house has been built for them in the building.

The design of the building reflects the Limburg’s area’s specific architecture and use of materials. This is clearly reflected in the white-grey masonry, the blue-grey braised roof tiles and the use of wooden frames with a classic layout. The frames are painted in the old Dutch regional standard colours.

The site layout of the Gastenhuis will match the green zone of the residential area. This will give it a park-like appearance. The Gastenhuis will be completed in 2023.
