Care Home Het Gastenhuis Bennekom

In Bennekom, a Gastenhuis has been realized in the middle of a lively residential area. A Gastenhuis is a small-scale residential facility where care is provided to people with dementia. The new building consists of a two-storey building containing twenty care apartments. Two of those apartments are suitable for couples who want to continue living together.

In addition, a shared living room, a large kitchen and a club have been realized. There is also a guest room available. The care team of the Gastenhuis is managed by a care couple. A house has been built for them in the building.

The realization of the Gastenhuis at an infill location such as this one is fully in line with the housing needs of the target group. By living and staying in the middle of society, the residents remain an active part of it. The building also fits in seamlessly with the environment. For example, it has the appearance of a residential house and the masonry architecture fits in with the surrounding buildings in the residential area. At an urban development level, it was decided to have the long building staggered in volumes relative to each other. This parcelisation gives the building a clear head and tail and ensures recognizability on the outside of the functions in the building behind it.
