Firestation Zuidwolde
Commissioned by the municipality De Wolden, B+O Architecten designed a fire station for the village on the business park of Zuidwolde. Starting point for the design was ‘warehouse between the warehouses’.
Therefore, the fire station has the shape of a shed, as there are many on an ordinary business park. The uniqueness is in the fact that the station has been provided with spacious roof overhangs and non-standard steel cladding, namely plank profiles instead of corrugated sheets or sheet piles. To make it clear that this is a fire station, the station has a tower. This refers to the snake towers that used to be present at barracks.
